Some lucky travellers see this as they arrive in MelbourneMelbourne’s founders travelled up the Yarra to arrive a rock barrier, which used be at the bottom right hand side of this photograph. Over the years, this arrival point has moved further downstream, including the man-made Victoria Harbour, mid-right. Ships do still arrive at docks downstream of the Bolte Bridge, however, large modern ships will be too large to enter the river, possibly even Port Phillip Bay.
Many commuters arrive at the city by train at Flinders Street Station, completed in 1909.

Mick, what a great interpretation of the theme ARRIVAL which shows the soul of you city. Awesome composition of the skyline-photo and an unique view in the second and third picture. Good job!
PS: Mick, I almost missed your post, because it appears only as a ping back. Maybe it’s better to copy the link as well in your comment the next time, so nobody will miss you Melbourne posts. 🙂
