This is our Great Ocean Road area, in Victoria, on fire. My friends have a beautiful house there. It is cool and raining now. I think their house has been saved.
We are not sure. It’s a new fact of life we experience now; it has been a very dry Spring and the Bush is also very dry. One little mistake by a farmer, a lightning strike, or unfortunately in many cases, arson.
Thoughts and prayers for the people and communities impacted. This is an aspect of Aussie life that I had not fully appreciated before arriving here. Total fire ban in south of Tassie yesterday. Hopefully today’s rain with reduce some of the risks.
It’s a tough comeback for many of them. Especially if it is their home. For many it will be holiday houses. Most of these people spend many hours on weekend keeping their houses in order. Wye River is a really beautiful place and it will recover. The properties, especially the ones with views, are worth big money, so in the long run they will be fine. Stay safe down there in Tassie. As you know, Mt Wellington had a very nasty fire in the 60s. We do not want to see a repeat of that.
We are safe Joanne, thank you. I’m off to the breeders this morning for more puppy paraphernalia. It’s cool and it’s Summer. What more could I want. You are right; we desperately need more rain.
What on earth???!

My goodness! I hope it has been saved. What caused the fire?

Very bad news indeed. Hope everyone is well … in spite of the destruction.
Stay safe and I’m hoping for some cooling rain.
