Kookaburras are beautiful big birds. They are member of the Kingfisher family. Their laughing call is one of the most pleasant sounds you can hear in the Australian bush.
I never heard a kookaburra while in Australia and deeply regret it. I would have remembered that laugh! I’m glad you added the sound clip for those of us who have never heard it before 🙂

They often sing right on dusk and one group will call to another. On a quiet night it is a wonder.
