I remember those fires also (I was thinking of the 2009 fires at the time I wrote my comment). My son and daughter in law were visiting us from Melbourne and they received a text saying that their house sitters were being evacuated. They live in suburbia so we were quite surprised but the fires were quite close to where they lived. All was good with them though. 🙂
We passed through Kinglake and surrounding areas in 2010 and there was still so much black.
It is truly amazing the devastation caused by fires. I am so pleased your house and pets were saved.

Thanks Suz. Yes we did get burnt. Thankfully saved our dogs, bunnies and house.
